(from the sent folder)

There is a girl who is quite smitten with DS1 and it is just killing me.  Even the teachers / directors are quite amused by it and give me the updates on it each day.  This girl is very forward.  And you know how they say girls are much more aggressive these days…. well, she is just horrifying me, thinking of what is in store for me.  She is just all over him, hugging and kissing.  Now, anyone who knows DS1 knows he is not the sort of kid to allow anyone to do this (other than me, pretty much).  In the morning, I put the guys socks and shoes on in the van once we get to school so, as you can imagine, this takes awhile.  Christiana stands at the doorway watching the whole time, waiting for DS1 to come inside.  Also, for the past week or so, when we are ready to leave, she goes into her backpack and takes some of her treats and gives them to DS1 (this, of course, causes “issues” with the little brothers and, inevitably, someone ends up throwing a hissy).

Yikes.  And, in other news, I’m told that (my friend’s daughter) Livi and Travis have a little thing going.  Between all this and me freaking out that I have a kid going into Kindergarten I am desperately searching for the means by which to turn back the clock!!  (Of course, I’m still emotionally traumatized by turning… well, you know.  It starts with a 4.)

The ax-murderer in the garage July 21, 2005

Filed under: mining for memories, random accounts and musings — gihrose @ 1:59 pm

This morning when I got up, I realized I had forgotten to get the load of laundry that included the boys blankets / sheets for school into the dryer Sunday night. (They were still in the washer, clean). So, I’m standing by the door to the garage to put them in the dryer and I hear some bumping around in the garage. Of course, being paranoid, I think it’s a some*one* and promptly lock the door between the house and garage and phone DH.

He suggests it might be a possum that was scampering around when he went to work. So, I muster all my courage (by this time DS2 and DS3 have joined me and are trying to get into the garage to investigate, which I’m not letting them do since I remained unconvinced that it’s not an ax murderer.) So I open the door for a second just to push the button to open the big garage door then close it quick and lock it again. The bumping and banging just gets louder. So I go out into the garage and there is an armadillo. He’s trapped behind some chairs leaning against the wall and has knocked down a bunch of shovels / rakes /etc in the corner. Finally, he gets free and scampers off down the drive then runs the perimeter of the fence (presumably trying to find a way to put more distance between me and him).
DS2 and DS3 watched this and thought it was funny as hell. The garage smells funny now. DH is going to have to do the investigation on that.
